Your first season

What to expect, without the mystery.

The gear

Cleats, shinguards, a water bottle. That is the whole list. Jersey and socks are handed out at the first practice, and the club provides game balls. Shinguards are non-negotiable, even for the kid who swears they never fall.

The week

One short practice on a weekday evening, then a Saturday morning game. U6 skips practice entirely, Saturday is the whole show. Games run about 50 minutes and everyone is home by lunch, grass stains included.

The teams

The registrar builds teams in late August, balanced by age and kept together by school and neighborhood where we can. U6 and U8 honor one buddy request, always. Older rosters are balanced, and the carpools work out anyway.

Volunteers

The coaches are parents. That is the whole staff.

Nobody here coaches for a living. The U10 coach with the crisp passing drills is an accountant who watched two videos. You do not need to know soccer. We run a two-evening clinic before each season, hand you a season of practice plans, and pair you with a coach who has done it before. Background checks are required for every adult on a roster, no exceptions.

The honest part: the club runs on you. Forty-one teams need forty-one coaches, plus line judges, a grill crew, and someone with a trunk full of cones. Four hours a week, remembered for forty years.

The club

Run by parents since 1998.

28years running
540players each fall
0paid staff

Rally started in 1998 with six families, a borrowed line striper, and a schedule drawn on a pizza box. Still a nonprofit, still run by nine parents elected at the June potluck, still the cheapest thing your Saturday has going.

Your fee pays for referees, insurance, field permits, and jerseys. Nothing else. Nobody is paid.

Questions parents ask

The short answers.

Does my kid need to be good?

No. Rec teams take every kid at every level, and the drills scale. Some come for the soccer, some for the snacks, and both are doing it right. Travel tryouts in June are the only place skill is ever a gate.

How is playing time decided?

In rec, every child plays at least half of every game. Coaches track it on a card, and the board checks. It is a rule, not a vibe. Travel plays to win and says so up front.

What if we need to drop out?

Full refund before teams are posted, half before the first whistle, because the jersey is already printed. After that, email us anyway. Broken arms and moves get handled like humans.

Can friends be on the same team?

In U6 and U8, yes, one buddy request per player, honored every time. From U10 up rosters are balanced, but we keep carpools and neighborhoods together where we can.

Fall 2026

Registration closes August 15.

Email the registrar with your player's name and birth year. Five minutes, done. If $85 is a stretch, say so in the same email. Nobody is turned away.
